Things you need to know before starting: The system will have two network links: wired (eth1) and wireless. Each one needs a network assigned to it, preferably using private addresses. For ease of setup and use the setup script assumes Class C addresses (24bit netmask, 256 addresses) with .0 as the network address and .255 as broadcast. Before you start, please go to www.dyndns.org to set up your account and dynamic DNS name; you will need it for the ddclient setup to work. You also need to know the phone number for your 5220 Verizon card. If you haven't already, you need to activate/update the card in a normal Windows PC or Macintosh OSX laptop before you can use it in the Soekris. If you aren't using a wireless webcam as shown in the Stompbox article you can just accept the defaults for the Webcam questions and forget about them for now. All other values (hostname, SSID, WEP key, etc) are up to you. 1. Boot the system 2. Log in as "root" with no password 3. run the config script: /usr/local/bin/initial-setup 4. Select a hostname for the box and enter it 5. Enter your 10 digit Verizon phone number for 5220 card 6. Enter your wireless SSID 7. Enter your WEP key (26 hex digits) 8.
